QPR vs Manchester United : United Player Ratings

Updated: February 24, 2013

David De Gea – 7.5

He did not have much to do the whole match . QPR players did not trouble him much . The highlight of his game was a powerful Loic Remy shot straight at the goalkeeper which was parried away easily .

Rafael – 9 (MOTM)

One of his best performances ever . He has been a consistent performer for United this season and has certainly made the RB spot his own . He scored an amazing cracker of a goal 25 yards out onto the top left-corner . Unstoppable . Minutes later made a goal-line clearance at the other end to deny QPR the equalizer . Overall , he did an amazing job both defensively and on the attack . Kudos .

Nemanja Vidic – 8

The Serbinator seems to be getting back on track . We saw the same rough-tackling , bullying power-house take over QPR players that we have known before . He nearly won every header that came his way .

Rio Ferdinand – 7.5

Finally we have got both our experienced defenders uninjured and in great form . Rio Ferdinand showed today why he is still revered as on of the best defenders in the world . He was in all the right places and did not have to tackle much because of his smart play . It was a pleasure to watch Ferdinand and Vidic together .

Patrice Evra – 7

Another good performance put-in by the Frenchman . It was not a match-winning performance but still he was a lot better than the previous seasons . He gave good support to Young in the attack and later to Nani when Young got subbed off .

Luis Nani – 7.5

Nani was not in his best today . He was struggling even with his skills a bit that my friend thought him to be Evra for a moment . But on the final third , Nani provided for United . He gave in some good crosses . He assisted Giggs for United’s second goal with a great pass . He could probably do better as he would undeniably be an important part of the United team against Madrid if he were in good form .

Michael Carrick – 8

Another astute performance from the midfield man . He was even recognized by the away supporters who sang him praises for 10 min . He was in all the right places putting in dives and controlling the midfield very well . He made a lot of interceptions as usual and kept Taraabt well at bay .

Ryan Giggs – 8

Giggs did alright today . That might not sound fair as he scored a goal . But I always expect big from him whenever he plays . He gave good support for Young , Nani and Rooney later on in the final third but I would prefer he played wing rather than midfield .

Ashley Young – 7 ( subbed off – 68′ )

Young was brilliant in the first half with his step-overs and cool crosses . But he kind of burned off in the second half . Gave good support to Evra in the defensive half and combined with him well in the attacking third .

Javier Hernandez – 6.5 ( subbed off – 62′ )

Chicharito did not do much today and was substituted off a bit early for the returning Rooney . A back-head shot on goal off Young’s cross was his highlight of the game . He also nearly connected with a great cross from Nani . Otherwise a pretty ordinary game for the Little Pea .

RVP – 6 ( subbed off – 41′ )

A well-taken volley off Rafael’s cross was his best in the game . It was well saved by Cesar though . RVP seemed to be limping from the very start of the game itself . He could not make much impact without his run-ins . United fans will be hoping he will be ready to play Madrid though .

Substitutes :

Danny Welbeck – 7 ( subbed in – 41′ )

A rating given purely for his work rate again . I personally was pretty disappointed with Welbeck though . He is trying hard alright . But he has to do a lot better when it comes to shooting . He seems to get stunted with the ball at his feet in front of the goal . Missed two great opportunities to score .

Wayne Rooney – 6.5 ( subbed in – 62′ )

A pretty ordinary performance from the returning Rooney . He had 2 great chances in the box to score and he didn’t . Hopefully he recovers completely before the Madrid match as he’s our main man now .

Antonio Valencia – 6 ( subbed in – 68′ )

The no.7 seems to have gotten to his head . He has been totally out of his game this season . Another very average performance put in by our main winger apparently . The Ecuadorian international has to come back to form pretty soon or risk being overrun by his adversaries , what with Zaha joining the ranks in summer .
